ZOO INTERPRETER VOLUNTEER POSITION OVERVIEW
Duties
- Educate the public at a variety of locations throughout the Zoo
- Educate about wildlife conservation
- Utilize bio-facts to educate guests
- Make animal observations and interpret their behaviors for the public
- Assist staff members with animal feeding interactions for guests
- There is no animal handling in this program
Training Sessions
Requirements
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Pass training program with 80% or higher.
- Pay a $40 training fee for onboarding materials and uniform.
- If this fee creates a financial hardship, please contact us for assistance.
- Participate in volunteer orientation.
- Must be able to commit to volunteering 30 hours annually.
- Successfully complete an introductory period.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Abide by policies in the Volunteer Handbook.
- Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate the ability to work well with visitors.
- Be interested in educating the public about conservation.
- Must be able to tolerate Florida’s weather conditions.
