Group Service Volunteering Overview
The Volunteer Services team will work with your organization to assist with our Zoo events or to develop a service project that facilitates team building, helps meet your goals, and serves the Zoo’s needs. We have opportunities to bring your group to volunteer at either the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford or the Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation in Eustis, FL (Lake County).
Requirements:
- Must be over 18 years or older
- Ages 13 & up may be accommodated if there is one chaperone per every 3-5 minors and if the chaperone can stay with the minor(s) at all times.
- Groups of 10-25
- Groups larger than 25 individuals are best accommodated when volunteering at public events (ranging between 5 to 70 volunteers)
- All volunteers MUST wear closed-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, sign a release form, and wear work-appropriate clothing that is suitable to the weather.
Goals:
Group volunteer giving programs are essential to preserving and caring for the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens. Your day will include several hours of volunteering, followed by time spent enjoying Zoo grounds. Volunteering at events may include playing games with guests, leading craft activities, providing directions/information, handing out treats to guests, assisting with set-up/break-down, and more. Volunteer projects may include mulching, painting, landscaping, habitat restoration, and so much more. We welcome monetary donations to help cover the costs of projects or donated items specific to your project when your group volunteers. The Volunteer Office determines project goals for each group based on the highest priorities for the Zoo. If you have an objection or affinity towards any type of labor, please be sure to let the Volunteer Office know, and we will do our best to accommodate your group’s needs!
